Overview
Andrea Seffens Turner is an associate with the firm’s litigation group and focuses her practice on commercial, business, and fiduciary litigation. She represents both individual and corporate clients in disputes involving contracts, design defects, oil and gas matters, fraud, negligence, and fiduciary liability. In addition to working on a variety of business and fiduciary litigation issues, Andrea has prepared and participated in several trials as second chair. Her trial experience includes giving opening statement and direct- and cross-examining expert and fact witnesses. In addition to her trial work, Andrea has prepared several appellate briefs.
She obtained her Juris Doctor degree from Baylor Law School in 2017, with a concentration in Real Estate and Natural Resources. Shortly after graduation, she served as a post-doctoral judicial intern for the Honorable Judge Martin Hoffman of the 68th District Court. Prior to joining Kessler Collins, Andrea worked in fast-paced boutique litigation firms, representing both plaintiffs and defendants in primarily commercial litigation matters. She graduated cum laude from Washington and Lee University with a dual undergraduate Bachelor of Arts in Global Politics and American History. Afterwards, Andrea acquired her Master of Arts in Energy Politics in Eurasia from the European University of St. Petersburg.
When not working, Andrea enjoys making sourdough bread and exploring different trails with her Golden Retriever, Stella.
Representative Experience
- Regularly provided guidance to large manufacturing client in South Texas, prepared employees for cross examination for large workplace injury arbitration, and successfully settled multiple workplace personal injury arbitration matters.
- Frequently counseled professional engineers in Central and South Texas in lawsuits arising out of alleged negligence in building design, foundation design and inspection, and roof inspection, and provide advice on settlement as a business decision and the risks of taking the matter to trial.
- Often advised oil and/or gas field service providers in West Texas on potential liability, damages, and settlement options in matters arising out of oil field injuries and indemnification under master service agreements.
- Represented trustee in breach of fiduciary duty lawsuit, prepared trust accounting, and achieved a favorable settlement.
- Second-chaired professional negligence jury trial in Midland County, Texas. Represented defendant’s certified public accountant and his firm and obtained verdict less than prior settlement offer.
- Prepared appellate brief and obtained favorable ruling from the Third Court of Appeals dismissing all claims against client’s professional engineer and his engineering firm.
- Drafted appellate brief and obtained favorable ruling from the Fourteenth Court of Appeals dismissing all claims against professional engineering firm in professional negligence case.
- Second-chaired multi-party construction jury trial in Rockwall County Texas, representing the plaintiff and original contractor, and obtained a plaintiff’s verdict for $423,453.00 on two counts of breach of contract.
- Second-chaired an informal marriage jury trial in Dallas County Probate Court No. 2.
- Second-chaired federal health care fraud jury trial in the Northern District of Texas for the United States District Court.
- Second-chaired a child custody modification bench trial in Collin County, Texas.
